Cecil Charles Windsor Aldin was born in Slough in 1870. He was a prolific illustrator and writer, his specialty was sporting art in the English countryside.

Horses and dogs were Aldin's main theme. He also did much advertising work and illustrated many posters for brands such as Bovril, Colman's Mustard and Cadbury. Royal Doulton used many Aldin drawings on the ceramics until 1939.
