Allan Campbell McLean Arthuor's Star Sign
Nationality - English Profession - Author
Date of birth - 18 Nov 1922 Date of death - Still with us
Place of birth - Walney Island : Lancashire
Allan Campell McLean, often mistaken as a Scottish writer was in fact born in Walney Island, Lancashire on November 18, 1922.

As an Englishman who has spent many years in Scotland, McLean has a poet's ear for language, and his attention to the cadences and rhythms of the speech of the Scottish people results in truly authentic dialogue.

All of his novels for younger readers are based upon actual historical happenings in the Isle of Skye - his aim was to present the younger reader with a picture of 19th-century life in the Scottish Highlands, that they would be unlikely to aquire from school textbooks.
