| Anna Maria Hall (nee Fielding) was an Irish-born author. Her works include "Sketches of Irish Life," "Lights and Shadows of Irish Life," "Stories of the Irish Peasantry," "The Whiteboy," "Nelly Nowlan," and "The Outlaw." She collaborated with her husband, the journalist Samuel Carter Hall, on the three-volume set "Ireland: Its Scenery and Character." Mrs. Hall was unusual for her open criticism of the government, particularly in "The Whiteboy."
