I am a stay-at-home father and have two children, Bess (8) and Jude (4). I was born in Ireland but my family moved to England when I was about six weeks old.
We moved around a lot when I was growing up and finally settled in north London which I have always regarded as home. It is the place where I met my wife and the place where my children were born.
In the past, I have held a wide range of jobs including Catering Assistant at London Zoo, Reprographics Operator for the Inland Revenue and Painter/Decorator amongst others.
I have also been a mature student studying at the City Literary Institute, and then Queen Mary University.

I have been writing for many years. My poetry has been published in various anthologies and exhibitions in association with The Open Windows Gallery and Poetry on Walls. My poetry has appeared in a public bank, gallery space and on a London red bus.
After my daughter Bess was born I found myself being reintroduced to children's literature. I became inspired by the picture books I was reading and found them to be exciting, exhilarating and profound. When I discovered that the experience I gained from writing poetry lent itself to writing picture books it took my writing in a new and rewarding direction.
My picture books are now published in Spain (Catalan and Spanish) Korea and the USA and are soon to be published in Denmark, Sweden, Brazil and South Africa.
Bringing up my children and writing takes up nearly all of my time but when the children are asleep and I'm in between projects I like to relax in front of the television. I also like to travel when the opportunity arises. I have been to India and many other places but my favourite place to visit is Northern Tuscany. I also have an interest in current affairs, history and contemporary culture.
