Earn extra money compiling synopses!
We are currently working on our author / illustrator database and require synopsis compilers to help with the growth of our project.

Which synopses should I compile?

You can compile any synopsis you wish as long as it meets the following conditions:
1. Each synopsis you enter must be from a children's book - we do NOT accept adult titles.
2. Each synopsis you submit should NOT already exist in our database:
To check whether or not we have a synopsis for a children's title in our database click here and type the author name into the "author" field - if the title appears on their profile page, within thier bibliography section then click on the link and check to see if the synopsis is present.
If you can't find the author, or author's title in our database, for which you intend to compile a synopsis for, then you can still send it to us - as long as it is a title written for children!

If you wish, we can supply you with a list of authors whose titles we need synopses for.

How much can I earn?

We currently pay 25p for each synopsis submitted - this may not sound like much but then you don't really have to do much to earn this - all you need to do is either:
1. Search the internet for a ready-written synopsis (this must either be taken from the publishers or be known to be the exact text from the book cover).
2. Use text recognition software to scan and convert the text from the dust-wrapper or book cover.
There are many different text recognition software packages on offer - many are free and can be downloaded from various websites.
The reason we ask that the synopses are taken from the publisher or direct from the book cover is mainly for copyright issues but also for storyline accuracy - also, a synopsis written by the publisher tends to include all the main characters and places within the titles storyline or text - this is very important for our readers searches.

Once you find or scan a synopsis, briefly check it for any errors, copy the entire text, and then send it to us! It's that simple! (NOTE: do NOT edit or change the length of the text).

We estimate that once you are up to speed with your searches you will be able to recover 40 synopses per hour. That equates to £10.00 per hour.

We do cap individual submissions depending on how many people are compiling in a given week, but we do guarantee allowing you to earn at least £50.00 per week (5 hours work) - often we will be able to offer you up to 20 hours a week enabling you to earn £200.00 per week.

We only accept batches consisting of 100 synopsis or more.

We pay within 14 days of receiving batches - we can pay UK compilers by Cheque or via PayPal if you have an account - we can ONLY pay overseas compilers via PayPal.

Layout and format

Each Synopsis must start with the FULL TITLE of the book for which it is written - the name of the AUTHOR and the PUBLISHER. This is then to be followed by the synopsis itself.

Each entry MUST also be numbered.

Below is an example of how the layout should appear:

1.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
by Roald Dahl
Publisher - Alfred A Knopf

For the first time in a decade, Willy Wonka, the reclusive and eccentric chocolate maker, is opening his doors to the public – well, five members of the public to be exact. The lucky five who find a Golden Ticket in their Wonka chocolate bars will receive a private tour of the factory, given by Mr. Wonka himself.

2.
Abhorsen
by Garth Nix
Publisher - Collins

The conclusion of Nix's Abhorsen trilogy finds former Second Assistant Librarian Lirael, now Abhorsen-in-Waiting, maintaining the border between Life and Death. Together with Prince Sam, Mogget, and the Disreputable Dog, Lirael must forestall the waking of an unspeakable evil before it has the chance to wield its powers of destruction.

Submissions must be sent to us as a TEXT FILE or EXCEL document (not PDFor image).

Each batch you send us should be accompanied by your FULL NAME and ADDRESS as well as your correct EMAIL ADDRESS.

Interested?

If you are interested in compiling for The Wee Web YOU MUST email us first to note that you accept our terms - YOU MUST then wait for a confirmation email from us letting you know of your acceptance as one of our compilers - as soon as you have received your acceptance email you can start compiling right away.

Any questions then simply get in touch.
