The Garden Gang 12 titles published
between 1940 - 1980
This series was entirely written and illustrated by Jayne
Fisher, Ladybird’s youngest author – in 1979,
at the age of 9, Jayne had her first book published entitled
Penelope Strawberry and Roger Radish – all the books
were about garden ‘fruit and vegetable’ characters.
The first series of the Garden Gang was issued under the series
number 413, with green covers - the rear cover had a photo
of Jayne on the back. The same green covers were used when
the books migrated to 793 but later the whole series were
reissued with white covers.
