The SUNSTART Reading Scheme consists of six books and three
workbooks. These are graded and written with a controlled
vocabulary and plentiful repitition, and are fully illustrated.
These books were specifically designed for Afro-Carribean
children - all the children shown in the book are black, and
in the number teaching sections the children are asked to
count snakes, monkeys and lizards!

each title.
Beatrix Potter once employed illustrator Ernest Aris (series 474) but later fell out with him when he named one of his rabbit characters 'Peter' - she accused him of plagiarism.
