series was halted just after the first two titles were published.
Woodwork and Metalwork
were both moved to the Learnabout
series 634 but it is the editions from series 731 that
are considered to be the true first printings
On moving to series 634 the content for both these titles
were left the same but the covers had a different design.Like
with many of Ladybird titles, and as stated in their prefaces,
these two books are designed to give instruction to both young
and old beginners.
Books in series 731 There were 2 titles published in this series
between 1940 and 1980 inclusive. All entries below describe
the first edition of each title.
Ladybird kept all the original illustrations produced by artists until the early 1970s when a change in legislation meant that they all had to be sent back to the original artists.
