Synopsis

Contains two stories, Fireworks and The Diamond Ring Affair.

Fireworks
Wonk and Peter try carol singing to raise money to buy fireworks for Guy Fawkes night, which was some time off - the Judge offers them half-a-crown to stop singing - they then buy some fireworks but Wonk can't stop thinking about them but knows that he is not allowed to set them of until Guy Fawkes night. One day Wonk decides just to have a wee peep in the fireworks box but just as he does so a spark from the fire falls into the box lighting all the fireworks and sending them flying around the room - everyone was angry with poor Wonk except Peter.

The Diamond Ring Affair
Wonk and Peter buy lots of sandwiches and ice-cream from the ice-cream man and to their suprise find a diamond ring in one of the cornets. They go back to see the ice-cream man who is puzzled as how it ended up in his ice-cream. They all go to the police station and find out that the ring belongs to the Duchess of Duck and that there is a ?5 reward for the finder. Soon they go with the police to the house of the Duchess to return the ring - she is delighted and rewards Peter with ?5 which in turn he shares with the ice-cream man. The embarassed Duchess admits that she must have dropped it in the ice-cream when she was earlier tempted to buy one.
