has been a hard task trying to source information on most of
the Ladybird authors and illustrators, as many of them were
one-off writers / illustrators - some of the authors were in
fact teachers, scientists, or professionals in a certain field,
who had lent their expertise to Ladybird books.

The earliest matt edition ( book without a dust-wrapper) was published in 1964 - this was the first title in the Key Words Reading Scheme series and was called Play With Us and was coded 1a.
