Adventures from
History 49 titles published
between 1940 - 1980
This is the largest
Ladybird series produced between 1940 and 1980 and was one of
the more popular. The first 23 titles of the series, 19 of which
were produced with dust-wrappers, were all written by L Du Garde
Peach and illustrated by John Kenney.
After 1965 the books were produced
with the standard matt pictorial boards but in 1976 new titles
and reprints to the series were changed to having the cover
picture framed with a blue border. Although a few titles were
revised through the years the series survived reprint up to
1986.
This series examined many of the great men and women from history.
It covers great rulers such as Alexander the Great and Julius
Caesar; great explorers like Scott and Cook; it also explored
some of the great civilisations of the world including the Aztecs,
the Incas and the Vikings.
